PROPRIETORS: MORRIS INDUSTRIES LTD East Works, Bordesley Green Road, Adderley Park—Birmingham, 8. TELEGRAMS:- FLEXCARBUR, BIRMINGHAM Your Ref. Our Ref. JNM/GH. 29th September 1932. Messrs. Rolls Royce Ltd., DERBY. For the attention of Mr. Robotham. Dear Sirs, In accordance with Mr. Skinner's instructions we are sending you under separate cover three samples of fuels recently sent us from Germany, which we have found on test to have a solvent effect upon the fabric commonly used in the mechanical diaphram type of fuel pump. After some days immersion in any of these fuels we have found that the fabric which we believe is impregnated with boiled oil (Linseed oil) becomes soft and can be peeled off easily with a finger-nail. There is no doubt that a diaphram in this condition would not run for long without serious leakage. The fuel marked A.{Mr Adams} is, we believe, known as "Nitag", that marked B. is "Eno" and that marked C. was submitted to us as a Continental Benzol mixture. We are unfortunately unaware of the exact composition of any of these fuels. We think however, that a test on these would prove instructive. Assuring you of our best attention at all times. We are, Yours faithfully, For THE S. U. COMPANY. [Signature] [STAMP: RECEIVED 30 SEP 1932] | ||
