Messrs.Joseph Lucas, Ltd.,
King Street,
Birmingham, 19.

For the attention of Mr.R.N.Neill.

Dear Sir,

Confirming my telephone conversation, in your absence, with Mr.Cawley we have decided to recommend the new front "Sports" type glass for immediate introduction on all Bentley and 40/50 Rolls-Royce P.100 headlamps. We are satisfied that they are a distinct improvement.

We are also looking forward to receiving from you shortly as arranged, a strengthened P.100 dipper unit bracket for introduction on lamps delivered to us for Bentley and 40/50 RR. chassis. It is almost inevitable that we shall steadily receive complaints unless some modification is carried out and we are naturally not prepared to stand the consequences of "black outs" at speeds above 60M.P.H. due to these dipper units fracturing.

Regarding our 20/25 chassis lamps we consider that the improvement gained with the plain centre on the P.100 lamp justifies us instituting the same feature (initially experimentally) on these lamps too, and we are therefore returning to you, marked for your attention, a pair of lamps for modification in this respect.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
