LMP/CW/EGB/Q 18 January 1937 Messrs Rolls-Royce Ltd. D E R B Y. Dear Sirs, Further to our letter of January 16, we have now thoroughly examined your Drawing No. G.83528 and find that neither the revised anvil for which we quoted in our letter of January 7, nor any anvil you have at present will be able to rivet two of the holes on the new brake shoe. We are returning your blue print herewith and you will see that we have circled round in red pencil the two holes mentioned above. The reason for the inability of the anvils to get at these two holes is that the two lugs on the bottom flange which we have pencilled round in red stand out so far that we should have to cut right into the anvil to accommodate them and this would mean that we should have no room for the centre pin. The only way we can see of getting at these holes is to supply you with one of our patent cranked anvils for which our price would be £7. 10. 0d. nett. In the event of your deciding to purchase one of these anvils we shall be glad if you will let us have a sample shoe, to enable us to be certain that the clearances we propose to allow are sufficient. Yours faithfully, for THE BIFURCATED & TUBULAR RIVET CO. LTD. | ||
