Dear Sirs,

Referring to your favour of the 6th inst. we are very pleased to note that you propose moving in the direction we suggested and that a certain number of definite improvements are being incorporated in a new design. We would, however, like to impress upon you the importance of the time factor in our calculations, as far as we are concerned, and trust that you will make every effort to let us have a sample machine at an early a date as possible.

We would very much like to have an opportunity of discussing the matter with your Mr. North when the new machine becomes available, but would like to point out that we are open at any time to discuss the whole question with any of your representatives you care to send along. We mention this point particularly in view of the fact that you propose launching out in the new design and although we have mentioned most of the points from which we consider the present machine to be defective, a discussion of the matter generally with our Mr. Hives and Mr. Platford might give you a better idea of exactly what we require.

Yours faithfully,

TECHNICAL PRODUCTION ENGINEER,
FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
