By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Wd{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}, c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer}/HBB. X5410 Wd{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}9/NJ16.2.25. 20 HP. Chassis - India. Upon receipt of yours By5/H9.2.25, I wrote Woodheads repeating the request which I submitted to them last October that the stirrup of the Registered Rebound Clip for our 20 HP. springs should be made of bar measuring .600" on the flat. I gave expression to the hope that they (Woodheads) would decide to fall in with the wishes of our Chief Engineer and register a section of steel not more than 5/8" wide on the flat. We have now received a letter from Woodheads stating that they are most anxious to assist us in every possible direction and to fall in with our wishes and accordingly they have sent us a modified clip and will be pleased to learn whether it meets with our approval. I am sending the clip herewith to By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} You will note that the width on flat of the stirrup is about .65"; therefore it approaches nearer to R's ideas than what we have been using. The clip is not a very good specimen of Woodhead's work, one nut being loose and the other quite tight, each shoulder being very rough and the point of each screwed shank also being very rough, but it will suffice to show what Woodheads propose to supply if agreeable to us. I shall be glad to have your comments as soon as possible. Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} Clip herewith. | ||
