CONFERENCE HELD IN ROY{Sir Henry Royce}'S OFFICE - 25.1.32. PRESENT :- Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}, AEM., ROY{Sir Henry Royce}, and BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} The following units for 'U' Series were reconsidered:- a/- Petrol Tank. b/- Longer Bonnet and modified dash. c/- Instrument patch. a/- PETROL TANK. The difficulty which had caused us to decide to go on with 25 of the old type was that no tools or press were available. EJJ. was called in and informed us that the press was now ordered and delivery promised in four months. Tools for same would be ready at the same time as the press. AEM. was asked to look into the question of producing by hand. If the cost is not too high he could then be instructed to make by hand till press is ready. An alternative suggestion was for ROY.{Sir Henry Royce} to get prices for pressing the parts outside, but it was considered tool cost would be excessive and make this impracticable. b/- LONGER BONNET. This is waiting the completion of a chassis in the Works which is being fitted with :- 1. New larger dashboard. 2. Longer bonnet. It is then to be submitted to Sales, who have agreed to give a decision when the chassis is delivered to them. | ||
