EAC.10 as you know has a unit engine and gearbox.

It would be of use to us to know whether it is the practice to take down the gearboxes without removing the engine. The question arises in connection with the position of our 'X' shaped cross member on EAC.10. It also arises in connection with India 3.

If we wish to dismount the gearbox on EAC.10 it has to be moved back a considerable way, and the cross member will have to be pushed back an approximately corresponding amount.

On the other hand if it were possible to count on always removing the unit we could have the cross member close up to the engine, where in fact we wish it to be for other reasons.

We can see that by using a tubular cross member set up over the propeller shaft we could drop the gearbox end of the engine down, and so slide the box from underneath the cross member if this was thought to be a practicable proposal. Alternatively it would be possible to make the tubular cross member on both cars removable, though we think we should prefer not to do this.

We should be very much obliged if you could give us some information as to your own practice, and as to the practice in the Repair Shop in the case of the 20 HP. DAL
