PHANTOM III CHASSIS WITH SEDANCA BODIES. With the Sedanca body mounted on rubber on 37-EX. to R.R. LsC.4975 it was found that we had considerable movement at the front door pillars and scuttle, much more so with the de-ville extension folded back. We have effected a great improvement by bolting the scuttle solid with the dashboard, the alterations consisted of substituting alum blocks in place of rubber at three points, the scuttle bolts, the adjustable blocks on the side scuttle rail, and the scuttle attachment to the frame immediately behind the dashboard, none of the body bracket rubbers were interfered with. The car was tried for tyre noise before and after this alteration was made and no appreciable difference could be detected. We are of the opinion that in making the scuttle solid at these points it is sufficiently steady at the instrument board not to require further modifications to the body mounting.
