X.4258. 11, Madeley Street, Derby. April 14th, 1921. Mr. Greenhalgh, 32, Addison Road, Kings Heath, Birmingham. Dear Mr.Greenhalgh, I received yesterday the case of 12 & BXH 4 cells, six of which were charged and six uncharged. I would like to have the other dozen all fully charged as stated before. ( I cannot clearly remember whether I have already asked you for two dozen in all). If I have only asked for 18 up to the present, I would like these to be increased to 21, making 9 further to be received fully charged. If I have already stated two dozen, I will let this stand as I can probably sell these quite easily. The hand lamp for Mr. Chandler has not yet arrived. We have had delivered to our Stores a consignment of chassis batteries similar to the three experimental ones recently received, i.e. including all the latest improvements, but we think there is an error here as we as the Expl. Dept. and as explained to you during your visit here, have not really passed these for production, so that I have given instructions for these not to be used on cars for the presmnt until we are satisfied that they are alright. We felt quite sure on this matter at first, but it shows how careful one has to be, because we have run up against two points in these batteries now in which they appear to be worse than the previous standard. One is that the internal resistance appears to be a little higher. This, however, we are thrashing out before stating this definitely. The other one is that the sealing compound appears to be too hard Contd. | ||
