86021. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.2/MA. 22nd., September 1933. The Chloride Electrical Storage Co.Ltd., Exide Works, Clifton Junction, Nr.Manchester. For the attention of Mr.E.C.McKinnon. Dear Sir, We beg to thank you for your letter of the 20 th instant reference ECM/LJ. We note however from the drawing which you have now submitted that the shape of the monobloc container is not the same in outline as the batteries you are supplying to us for the Bentley chassis. This means that the holding down arrangements are different. Whereas with the Bentley battery we use holding down bolts this battery you have now submitted will have to rely on our standard method of packing in the battery box. We do not wish to pack this battery with our future scheme but we desire to use the holding down bolt arrangement. We shall be glad to know therefore if you can supply this 6XHR11-1L battery with a monobloc container of the Bentley design with holding down bolts. We beg to say that our other Suppliers of batteries have already submitted us a battery exactly similar to the 6XHR11-1L but with the container we desire i.e. with holding down bolts. We assume therefore that you can easily do the same as we understand this monobloc container is more or less standard between most battery manufacturers. The type number of the battery they have submitted is 6-BGD11-SC, and this battery conforms almost exactly internally and as regards weight to the battery you have now submitted. | ||
