x540 RR. C.RHGs Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} E/JNR.{Charles L. Jenner}1/HP.31.1.36. 25-30 Radiator. Please receive herewith:- Lec.4967 showing the design of the radiator with a 58 m/m Mark 5 matrix and fitted with unbalanced shutters of the wrapped over shape. The width of the radiator is made 4" instead of 4.550" to save weight. Sheet metal sideplates are used to reduce the cost. The back of the radiator is the same shape as at present to suit the existing bonnet. There will be no alteration with this scheme to the radiator mounting brackets, the water outlet pipe, the filler, or the calorstat, but the links between the calorstat and the shutters will be shorter.
