Examination of faulty coils returned from customers.
We have unwound for examination in the lab, three standard ignition coils which have been returned from customers as faulty (see BY/RD2/DM{D. Munro} 30-11-29).
In each case the fault was confirmed and diagnosed previous to unwinding as a short circuit on the secondary winding. The following is a report on the condition of each coil after unwinding.
Coil NO. G-2-WX. Break down found at end of 4TH layer of secondary. Coil secondary badly wound with spaces and considerable ridges in the layers. Primary in good condition.
