X4206 Oy3 - G71020 Oct. 7, 1920 RECEIVED J.S. 30 OCT 20 RECEIVED 2 NOV 1920 U.S. & A.{Mr Adams} DEPT. Mr. Claude Johnson, Managing Director, Rolls-Royce Ltd., London, England. Attention: Mr. Clarke. Dear Sir:- X.4206 Re: X.667 - Exide Chloride Batteries In reply to Mr. Clarke's memo of the 18th of September, the Exide batteries we are fitting here are 6-LXR-9-1, and the dimensions of this battery are 17" X 7 3/8" wide X 9 1/8" high over-all. At present we are using the form of battery in which the cells are side by side, to which the above dimensions refer, but we think that the longitudinal mounting of the cells will enable us to get the battery in the internal position, which would be a great gain from the point of view of sales. The dimensions in this case will be 20 1/8" X 6 1/3" wide X 9 1/8" high over-all. We are arranging to send you a sample battery for test. The rated capacity of the battery is 67 ampere hours and the following data, which we obtained at the Service Station, may possibly interest you: EXIDE BATTERY Model 6LXR-9-1 Capacity 67 amps hrs - 5 amps Voltage (open circuit) 12.6 volts Voltage on roll (mean) 9.75 " Voltage (stalling) 4.8 " Starting ability 182 amps for 5 min. Mean Temperatures (Battery, Engine water and) (oil, atmospheric ) 42 degrees Fah. | ||
