SECRET. To E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} SpectreCodename for Phantom III Frontal Appearance and Column Controls. Copy to Nor.Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Mr.Ol.Mr.Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}Mr.Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} Referring to E.S/HP.17.4.35 I should like to see if possible when at Derby next week a small section of the alternative suggested alternative grid referred to in the third paragraph, and also a small piece of what Ev{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}'s proposal would look like as I cannot quite get the idea from the description. As regards the last paragraph Page I and the question of cutting about 3" off the bottom of the radiator, what I should like to see by Friday if possible is a mock-up of the front arranged in the manner described, without of course actually altering the radiator. It does not matter what material it is made of so long as it is painted black. Re the controls, when we were struggling with the Bentley controls I seem to remember that Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} made me up some plasticine models to look at and I think it would be a good scheme if this were done again. My general criticism of the controls is that they look too meagre for the car. They want to be spread out more so as to look more important, a rough idea being the Talbot on Page 678 of this week's 'Autocar', without of course actually copying them. Sg.{Arthur F.
