PETROL TANK FILTERS AND PIPES AFFECTED BY FUEL USED. Further to the above, the following is a report we have received from Mr. Caswell:- "Re. Gas Tank Filters. - I am sending you under separate cover a piece of copper tube taken from the gasoline supply pipe inside the filter. This pipe is corroded almost entirely through - it may even now be leaking - and constitutes a source of trouble. We have renewed several tubes that have corroded through in this manner and which caused a considerable mount of trouble to the drivers by allowing air to be blown through the gasoline pipe and temporarily cutting off the supply gas, the driver receiving warning by having his engine stop and upon lifting the hood discovered a spray of gasoline and air being blown through vent holes in the carburetter". "The gasoline in this country is very poor and eats the filters away very quickly". I have sent on to you the affected copper pipe referred to. It would appear that to do this job thoroughly apart from an alteration to the gauze material used, we shall also have to consider whether we should not use different material for the pipes. EP.{G.
