450g & 66ba To. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} CHATEAUROUX. 3/7.8.39. 30.G.7. & I4.B.V. Thank you for your various memos of the Ist, 2nd, and 4th inst. I) Battery Leads. You will be able to see when these cars return if the cables have deteriorated through being in the cross. We have made quite a neat job of them. 2) Tyres. We note your remarks and will endeavour to exercise the necessary discretion. You will note that two 6.50-16 Dunlops have loosened their treads on the front of the Corniche. The best results all round so far have been on 7.00-16 Dunlops. Can we have some more for further tests ? We are waiting for the 6" wheels so we can try the special wide rim tyres, but understand these are still required for skid-pan tests. We have to-day despatched a load of tyres which have thrown their treads. (List to follow). 3) Ventilation. You will note that the Corniche has already been back to Vanvoorens for a further modification system. This is better but not yet satisfactory. The job is receiving every attention, and another scheme will be fitted while the wings are being repaired. 4) Throttle Operation for 8-cyl. Thank you for the Arrangt. Drawing. We are going into this and will report in due course. 5) Hand Ignition Control. We are trying out your suggestions of letting the distributor turn with engine movement and will report. Bertha has just completed I5,000 miles. We are making a thorough examination of the chassis and preparing a report on the running to date. | ||
