X8792. To EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/WJ.7.11.30. 27-EX. SIR HENRY ROYCE. We could let the coachbuilders have the chassis of 27-EX. by November 26th. but it will not have the following items:- Dual Carburetter. Petrol Tank with Central Vent. Petrol Pump., as there is no chance of these being finished and tested by this date. Furthermore, it will not have self adjusting tappets to Lec.2808, as we have not yet succeeded in making these work satisfactorily. We shall omit, as you suggest, the double switch on the column as we have no design. The bonnet will be fitted with vertical louvres as we have no design of horizontal louvres which has ever been approved by anyone. We presume that if we send the chassis to the coachbuilders you will arrange with Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} for it to be dealt with in the same manner as 18-G4, as of course, the bonnet and dash will be noticeably different from standard.
