To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from EFC. c. BJ. X7625 EFC4/T7.5.27. X7625 SEQUENCE STARTER - R2/M3.5.27. X7650 The sequence starter has been arranged on a car with the combined main and relay switch unit and duplex push button switch of No.1 scheme to work in conjunction with combined sliding armature motor and switch unit of No.2 scheme. The possibility of this was pointed out to Mr. Stent in our note EFC1/T1.10.26 and this has been the arrangement instructed, that portion of the old scheme having worked satisfactorily on other experimental chassis. The preliminary trouble with this motor is the fact that the frictional effect on neutralizing the armature torque on teazer winding prevents correct entry of the armature into the central position, and for the moment the apparatus does not function. It may happen either (1) That the armature proceeds to revolve too quickly and prevents the teeth from engaging. or (2) If the teeth engage, that the ar-mature torque is too great and provides too much frictional effect to enable the longitudinal pull to take the motor in. A more detailed report is in preparation. EFC. | ||
