Our Ref;- CLB/I. 18th June 1920. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., Nightingale Road, DERBY. Dear Sirs, For the Attention of Mr. Whitehead. Further to the question of delivery of Dynamos, we beg to advise you that your lorry will collect this afternoon between 30 and 50 Machines, which have been tested all excepting the special silence test which Mr. Whitehead agreed you would undertake yourselves. We should like to offer an explanation of the chief difficulty in the way of delivery during the last ten days. Some time ago, you will doubtless remember, you introduced a modification to the Terminal Block, and this last ten days we have been making the change over and consequently our reserve of finished machines was diminished. The position, however, would have been alright had it not been for a break down on our special silence test, and this will not be going again until tomorrow morning. We are able to recover, however, sufficiently to deliver to you 75 Machines next week, and we do not anticipate any further difficulty beyond this. Should you require 100 Machines per week, we shall be able to deliver them until your stock is satisfactory. Re Gun Metal Switch Boxes. We regret that there is delay in the delivery of these owing to the colour of the material we have received from you varying, and we have been obliged to obtain supplies from other sources in order to match them up. We felt it would not be acceptable to you to send the Switchboxes in with varying finish of Gun Metal, and it mean our starting some of the Parts all over again.
