Expl. Dept. X719 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Tsn.1/MJ. Dec.3rd.1929. Messrs. Ferodo Ltd., Sovereign Mills, Chapel-en-le-Frith. Dear Sirs, For the attention of MR. Field. With reference to your letter FJF/LED.9.11.29. We wish to try the effect of a thin layer of cork under the fabric on the driven plate, in our Phantom ll clutch, as discussed with you in recent correspondence. The cork and fabric layers can all be .125" (1/8") thick, as there is room in our clutch for a total plate thickness of .625". We would prefer the linings to be rivetted to the plate, and we would suggest that the cork be very lightly cemented as well, in order to avoid xx bits breaking away. We are sending a clutch plate under separate cover for you to carry out the above modifications. Yours faithfully, For: Rolls-Royce Ltd. | ||
