Dear Sirs, We are duly in receipt of your letter dated the 27th July, reference as above, in connection with a further experiment which we are pleased to hear you are desireous to carry out on a Marles Steering Gear of the latest design. We have carefully considered the proposal set out in your letter in respect of the modification to the steering which we have already manufactured and supplied to you, and which you have already tested out. From our investigation it would appear that the modification of this steering into a steering in line with our latest type is hardly a practical proposition seeing that the most important items of the gear are definitely different in shape, including the Cam, Rocker Shaft and the Steering box. As regards the latter item, we think you will agree having examination of the enclosed drawings that it would not be possible to accommodate the roller bearings in the box supplied with the gear already in your possession.
