X5350. To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}4/HP.4.11.33. c. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} HDY.{William Hardy} J.3.Clutch. ---------- Herewith are N. Sch's 3814 and 3828, shewing the adaptation of the clutch to the separate gear box arrangement. The clutch has been modified to stiffen the back plate, so that an out board bearing can be used to control the flywheel. The clutch casing as shewn is suitable for the Hydraulic arrangement of brakes, but bosses for the differential need adding if a mechanical system is used. N. Sch. 3814 is suitable for the modified engine with timing gears at the front, but N. Sch. 3828, suitable for the existing engine, is the one required for the separate gear box experiment.
