X3117. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Lid.{A. J. Lidsey}3/KT. June 23rd 1933. Donald Sessions & Co.Ltd, 906 Harrow Road, Willesden, London. N.W.10. For the attention of Mr. Donald Sessions. Dear Sir, Thank you for your letter of the 21st inst. 20/25 HP. Chassis. We will let you know, as soon as we have completed our tests, whether we can pass the medium weight jacks as being suitable for our 20/25 HP cars; at the moment they are functioning satisfactorily, but further testing is necessary before we can give a decision. Bentley. With regard to your suggestion of making your Mark I jack sufficiently strong for use on this car, the position at the moment is as I put it to you on Monday last - viz. that we do not think the advantages of the jacking system are sufficient to justify the weight of the parts on this type of car. The jack we are using at present weighs only 8 lbs. and this weight together with a small addition for suitable jacking levers on the rear axle is the maximum weight which we can at present afford to allocate to jacking. You could not of course hope to approach this weight. We appreciate your offer to try to meet our requirements on this model, but the chances of standardisation are so very remote that it is not at the moment worth your while to proceed.
