| COPY. ---- BY/Cgh.{W Clough} from Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} ---------------- Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}5/T.27.9.32. ---------------- With reference to E/JNR.{Charles L. Jenner}1/HP.19.9.32. and Mr. Clough's pencilled note. I personally do not agree that it is right to sub-contract the carburetter for the Bensport, and think that possibly it would have been right if I had been consulted on this matter before committing the Company. There may, of course, be one or two special items, such as the needle, where special tackle is necessary, that might be bought out from the S.U. people, but I do think, seeing that someone has to take the responsibility, that the carburetter would be better made in our own Works - Firstly - because we shall be responsible for the complete chassis, although you say that R.{Sir Henry Royce} has said he will not be responsible. I certainly think that someone will have to be responsible and that someone is the Company. Secondly - I feel that in these difficult days of finding work for the factory, any part that we can make for our chassis or any of our products, should be made at Derby. Thirdly - as we shall be responsible for the whole of the Bensport chassis, it is advisable to make as much of that chassis in our own Works. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} | ||
