We understand that so far the rear bearing of the first motion shaft is more than normally troublesome on account of noise when running light. This bearing is specially made for us by Hoffmann's and has 18 - 13/32" balls with gaps in the races. As we cannot find any evidence that this bearing is not up to the duty it has to do we suggest that the number ofballs should be reduced to 13 which should reduce the noise and incidentally avoid the need for gaps in the races. Will you kindly order a number of bearings with 13 balls for trial on the next 10,000 miles. The races should be as shown by N.Sch.4690 to suit the new type gearbox. E/HDY.{William Hardy} | ||
