(4) RUBBER CONNECTIONS.

Mr. Bailey interviewed Capt. Briggs of the Technical Staff of the Air Ministry yesterday afternoon -

(1) As to whether they would let us send Aero Engines away from these Works without rubber connections. Capt. Briggs replied that he would see Col. Fell as soon as he got back to London, and he was under the impression that we should be allowed to do this, and he will inform us as soon as possible.

(2) Can we get a modification of the present specification for these rubber connections? He said they had been and were still trying to produce another specification to replace the old specification, but so far had not been successful.

Mr. Bailey impressed it upon Capt. Briggs that owing to the short life of rubber under the present specification, if we had engines in Australia, it would be quite likely that the life of the rubber would be practically over before they got to Australia. His reply to that was that the Air Ministry were trying to make manufacturing depots out in foreign parts.

Mr. Bailey has confirmed this interview by letter to Capt. Briggs.

(5) WARLAND RIMS.

We have agreed that the countersinking of the permanent rim in place of depressing same does not weaken the rim, and does allow slightly greater accuracy, but that it does not generally improve the wheel. This concession enables the Warland Co. to complete orders which are on their books, and brings the Warland Co., Dunlop Co. and ourselves into agreement.

(6) WOOD WHEELS - REPAIRS.

We have this morning received from Messrs Holmes Bros. an estimate for wood wheels and consider the price is high, and propose taking the matter up with them further.

(7) MAGNETOS.

Re letter read from a Mr. Paterson, at meeting of 13/5/20, Mr. Wormald has written to Mr. Johnson and asked him if he would be kind enough to get further details from Mr.Paterson.
