Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. C-E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} 86037 BY/RD2/W.9.2.33. SHUNT DYNAMO. (Discussion 9.2.33.) This is to confirm our conversation and in view of the experience gained up to now, including the run with the recently revised machine with smaller diameter and shorter core, (*D* Scheme 546 revised), it was agreed that we should now try a machine midway between 3.5" long and 2¾" long, i.e. 3⅛, maintaining the same reduced diameter 3.075", and wound with 16 S.W.G. wire. I anticipate this can be got in without lengthening the machine, in addition to the longer commutator for the larger brush. We also agreed to explore the possibility of using 16 S.W.G. wire.
