-3- Slow running very good at 4 m.p.h., and not affected when suction windscreen wipers working - idling fairly good. Starting up from cold very good. Occasional misfire picking up. Induction roar - BAD. Usual noisy American Fan. Timing Gears or chain (?) whine 35 - 45 M.P.H. both ways, very noticeable when driving on the road. Tappets noisy when engine idling, but quiet when running on the road. Torque reaction period noticeable at 8 - 10 m.p.h. and 13 - 15 M.P.H. Bad exhaust boom 27 - 40 m.p.h. forward 35 - 27 over-run Gearbox. Side shaft good 1st Gear very fair, geary both ways. 2nd gear good - light whine both ways. Reverse gear good for a reverse gear. Generally a very good box for noise. Synchromesh mechanism is not as easy as it should be, requires quite an effort to push gear lever into 2nd gear. Clutch. Very nice smooth action on engaging, with total absence of any inclination to jagger, but too lightly loaded, inclined to slip if foot rested on pedal. Rear Axle. Very good except for over-run growl 60 - 50 m.p.h. Transmission. Very good, remarkable absence of "chunking" in the drive. | ||
