To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gy. c. to Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} X3806 hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gy2/LG13.6.29. CENTRAL LUBRICATION. X3806 Sketch Z.70 represents the form of Bijur pump adaptor which we have found successful in curing the oil leak down the dash. The external screwing fits into the top casting of the pump where the filling plug fitted before. The internal screwing is adapted to take F.52017 an old type of filler cap. This should be drilled and countersunk as the latest type is to provide an air vent. If there is still any question of leakage on existing pumps in the Test Dept. after this is fitted, we recommend that the leather washers previously instructed should be fitted and in future chassis it should be put on in the first instance.
