To Jmr. From Rn.{Mr Robinson} Copy to Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} Rn{Mr Robinson}/TAS.{T. Allan Swinden} Rn{Mr Robinson}/HH. 1030 400 MYTH ENGINE. We shall not stop the Myth engine being made in its present form. We cannot, however, complete it without a camshaft. We have therefore asked Rn{Mr Robinson}/TAS.{T. Allan Swinden} to concentrate on this item to the exclusion of everything else. With regard to the inlet and exhaust on the near side, we think that this experiment is so important that we should definitely complete designs for the project as soon as we can. We recommend that Jmr. should handle this job, the only limitation on the time he spends on it being the fact that nothing must interfere with the completion of the Meteor engine for tank test. When this is completed, the Leyland men can still continue to work on cheapening modifications, but we shall not treat this subject very seriously until the Leyland production people have had the opportunity of criticising the first engine fitted to the tank. In the initial project we should not worry too much about the carburettor fouling the side of the bonnet, though this will have to be tackled should the combustion chamber form and hot spot prove satis-factory. I have hopes that we may get hold of one of the S.U. down-draught expanding type carburettors to test on the Myth. Rn.{Mr Robinson} | ||
