lever moved up and down several times under this pressure.
If no leak occurs at the end of ten minutes, the gland may
be considered satisfactory.

The correct level for the oil in these shock dampers
is that of the filling plug F.19058. If there is any lost
movement in the shock damper after it has been fitted up, this
will probably be due to air in the system. An examination
should be made to see that the small hole in cap F.74642 is
clear and that the three ball valves are all working satis-
factorily. We suggest that during road testing, the shock
dampers should be carefully watched for any signs of oil
leaks from the caps or joints, and before despatch should be
carefully cleaned down, the top cap removed, and the oil level
made up if necessary to the correct level. If there are
any signs of the glands leaking at the end of the road test,
these should be dismantled.
