contd :- -2- lever moved up and down several times under this pressure. If no leak occurs at the end of ten minutes, the gland may be considered satisfactory. The correct level for the oil in these shock dampers is that of the filling plug F.19058. If there is any lost movement in the shock damper after it has been fitted up, this will probably be due to air in the system. An examination should be made to see that the small hole in cap F.74642 is clear and that the three ball valves are all working satis- factorily. We suggest that during road testing, the shock dampers should be carefully watched for any signs of oil leaks from the caps or joints, and before despatch should be carefully cleaned down, the top cap removed, and the oil level made up if necessary to the correct level. If there are any signs of the glands leaking at the end of the road test, these should be dismantled. Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /W.A.Robotham. | ||
