Y3831 To EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}5/LG7.1.26. STEWART VACUUM FEED. OY4/E122225. The Stewart vacuum feed has already been reported upon by us in our Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/AJL/LG14.12.25. The reason why the Stewart vacuum feed is an improvement over the Autovac is because they use a very small restricted hole between the induction pipe and the vacuum tank. We tried this very early on with the Autovac, and found that although it made an improvement, it reduced the efficiency throughout the whole range of working. In our opinion, the special elbow supplied by the Autovac Co. is an improvement over the Stewart arrangement because it only reduces the efficiency when the vacuum is very high in the induction pipe.
