W/N - Br.{T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager} x512 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}16/KW.18.9.35. 20/25 HP. Clutches. From correspondence handed to me by BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} I note that Sales have been complaining about clutch jaggers on the 20/25. We should like a little more information on this subject - (1) Are clutch jaggers peculiar to the 20/25 cars fitted with the Terraplane rubber mounting, or was the trouble experienced before this ? (2) You will appreciate that the 20/25 HP. clutch design has not been altered for the last 10 years. (3) We have recently introduced a new clutch design on the Bentley, which is fitted from the 1st chassis in 'E' series onwards. This clutch has been fitted to Lp{Mr Lappin}'s car for the past 12 months. We should like to know how serious this epidemic of clutch jaggers is. Shall you have any difficulty in showing us a car if we come down to Cricklewood to investigate it. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
