(4) SEATING. We have had a lot of trouble with front seats not affording support to the small of the driver's back, a flaw having been in use for a short while. An example of this is the Hooper Saloon 10-0-3. Much more permanent set takes place on the long lower springs, and the shoulder's contact with the top rail. He suggest that the seat-board be of 3 ply wood, bent to suit the shape of the driver's back, thus:- [Handwritten label on diagram: Driver's Back] [Handwritten label on diagram: Driver's Position After Some Wear] The springs would then be of equal length, and no matter what subsidence might occur, there would be always a correctly shaped seat.
