EX. FROM DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} C. to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} PEREGRINE CLUTCH. x403 Herewith we send N. sch. 3513, showing the clutch modified to give the following improvements, all of which have arisen as a result of tests: (1) P. 2. type initial engagement giving greater clearance, when disengaged. (2) Both friction surfaces of cast iron. (3) Provision to prevent friction surfaces binding under expansion due to heat. (4) Air cooled springs. (5) Set screw adjustment. (6) Oil guards. (7) Modified leverage to suit the new method of anchoring the pedals. An arrangement of the rubber coupling to suit this clutch will follow on another drawing, but in the meanwhile we suggest that it should be tried as drawn, as we hope to find the rubber coupling unnecessary. We shall also send suggestions for the automatic lubrication of the spigot bearing. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
