LOW RATING SPRINGS.

Replying to Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}21/E25.11.31.

As regards the Phantom, it is accepted that although the standardisation sheet as now been completely signed for low rating springs these are only to be used in special cases to suit customers' requirements. The L.H. cars will still be fitted with the low rating springs as standard.

We expect to review the types of springing when we have satisfactory adjustable damper.

As regards the 25 HP. The 24 sets of low rating springs are now at the Works and Ry. is arranging that these shall be fitted to production cars. We hold the view that the improvement in riding with low rating springs on the 25 HP. is very definite and this car does not suffer to the same extent as the big car as regards lack of control with low rating springs.

We shall not proceed fitting any more low rating springs to the 25 HP. except to customers' special requirements until we have had experience with the 24 cars we are fitting up.
