Messrs. Joseph Lucas Ltd.,
Great King Street,
BIRMINGHAM.

For the attention of Mr. Toulmin.

We have now completed our bench tests on the three specially adjusted C.A.V. regulators you supplied to us for trial. These were of the B.2. CJ1A type and numbered 61892, 61923, and 62006 respectively.

The outputs in the hot condition at 13 volts and 15 volts respectively were found to be as follows :-

Terminal REGULATED CURRENT.
Voltage. No.61892 No.61923 No.62006.

13 volts. 19.0 amps. 19.5 amps. 16.5 amps.

15 volts. 13.3 amps. 13.0 amps. 10.4 amps.

We were rather disappointed that the current at 13 volts, did not reach the 20 - 21 amperes that you thought we should get; more so as No.62006 appears to be no different from what we are at present fitting on the cars.

As already mentioned to you, we have evidence that in many cases, customers batteries are suffering from undercharging; hence the need for a higher output regulator. It is understood that you do not make a regulator with a natural characteristic higher than that of our present standard B.2.C.J.1 the only practicable method of
