X3499 Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} E.3/HP.12.5.32. re Radiator Shutters. -------------------- In reply to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}2/E.11.5.32 I am sorry not to have replied before but the original memo of 3/5/32 was snowed under. I am however, fully in agreement with Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/MA.12.5.32. The proposal put forward by Mr Paddon is not practical, and our own scheme should close the Shutters soon enough for the purpose in view. Some time ago we did have a set of shutters brought from America by Cy. on a Silver Ghost in which the motive power was induction pipe vacuum, but although these operated reasonably well with free shutters it was realised that the scheme was of no use with a low depression carburetter.
