Preliminary Report on Smith S. Motor. Type 5.S.
The weight of this machine is 16. lbs 2ozs.
It has a large cross-section of carcase compared with its other dimensions.
The pole shoes are laminated, but do not occupy all the space available in the field coils, the coils being too large.
The connections between field coils, are not as neat as they might be, but the connections to the terminals are quite alright.
Two brushes, marked Morganite C.M. 3, are used, the position of which can be slightly altered by means of a little play which is left at the holes accommodating the screws securing the end. shield to the carcase.
Signed C. Aitken
This Sheet must be filed on completion of the work.
