BYS/H. 12.5.27. PHANTOM CHASSIS - K.L.G. PLUGS. -------------------------------- There has been no instruction from this Department to hold up or cancel deliveries of Lodge plugs for Phantom chassis. All that has been done in response to a request from Experimental Dept. is to instruct the Works to fit up 50 Phantom cars with K.L.G. plugs, the main object of this being to obtain some prolonged experience of the plugs in customers' hands over a certain number of chassis, whose numbers we were acquainted with, in order to see whether the K.L.G. plug would, on the Phantom chassis in service, give satisfaction to the owners. There is clearly some mistake in the Lodge plugs having not been ordered to meet requirements. In order to keep production going, the Stores must issue more K.L.G. plugs to the Test Dept, but AX. must arranged not to despatch more than 50 cars with K.L.G. plugs unless it is absolutely imperative.
