Fouling issue between the rear floor and the propeller shaft on model 1.B.S.

Rear Floor - 1.B.S.

We have been shewn the rear floor of 1.B.S. which fouls the propeller shaft intermediate bearing, and the frame cross.

Both of these chassis units should be on the Park Ward chassis mock-up, and as we have experienced this foul we fear the mock-up may be wrong.

We appreciate that this body was built originally for the high frame and the rear floor subsequently lowered with the advent of the lowered frame. In the last minute changeover the error may have crept in.

We suggest that the coachbuilders be asked to check up the propeller shaft bearing and frame cross of the mock-up chassis with our scheme for these, G.OD.23 and FB:3224 respectively.

We suggest also that they be supplied with a detail of the plate on the top of the cross-centre, on which the rivet heads are shewn as the original design of the frame had this piece spot welded. The rivet heads will absorb the clearance between the floor and the centre of the cross.

Owing to this feature we have had to mount the rear of the body of 1.B.50 a half inch higher.

As the body for 2.B.S. is due here this week-end, we suggest that the coachbuilders be acquainted with these fouls on 1.B.S. at once, so that they may have a chance to correct them before the body leaves.
