Repair of S.U. Petrol Pumps.

Referring to your memo Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/JED.2/JH.28.3.39, I have carefully considered the proposals suggested, and agree with the scheme in general.

If we still have a yearly guarantee from the S.U. I feel we should be able to debit them for repairs on any pump that failed within this period, but probably the guarantee period does not hold good under the existing arrangement to assemble the pumps here, as presumably the parts we are not satisfied with are returned before being built up.

In regard to the costing of repair pumps, I think it definately advisable to do 100 pumps as you suggest, before fixing a flat rate for the various repairs.

I understand the S.U. Co. have a number of pumps still to repair, and if they invoice these I am afraid we shall have to pay.

Will Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/JBD.{John B. Dixon - Fuel Systems} please issue instructions to the Departments concerned, that in future all pumps for repair are sent to Derby and not to S.U.

BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer}
