Re Bentley Chassis.

I am in receipt of HY{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer}3/G.10.11.33 relative to the Lake & Elliott jack pads.

I took the opportunity of discussing this matter with Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} yesterday and he showed us the approximate position on the spring in which these pads would be fitted.

We agreed that we should like to have them on the Bentley chassis, and I gathered from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} that they would be on the first production cars.

Would you please confirm that this is so.

The royalty of 1/- per pair of pads seems reasonable and, provided the patent is granted, I agree that it is desirable for us to come to a working agreement with the firm in question.

We have been discussing the question of the fitting of D.W.S. Jacks to the 20/25 but of course the question of expense enters into it, so that it is possible the jack pad referred to might meet the case for this model.

I should be glad if Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} would make a test to see whether with the low rating springs this jack pad would be a practical proposition.

I mention the springs because I understood from him that the stiffness of the springs on the Bentley was a great help.
