5EX ORIGINAL. To R.{Sir Henry Royce} & E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} from EPC. c. to CJ & FN. c. Ey & Rg.{Mr Rowledge} c. Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} & EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} c. R.H. of American Inc. EFC1/T11.8.21. X.4215 - BLERIOT PHI CUTOUTS. Since last reporting on the above (see our report EFC1/T10.5.21) we have received from Messrs Bleriot six further cutouts of quality and finish equal to the original samples one of which you have on your lighting set at West WitteringHenry Royce's home town and the second of which you have on 6 EX. It may also be remembered that of cutouts received in the meanwhile, we retained two after ourselves rectifying these and adjusting them as nearly as possible to our specification; of which two, one was subsequently fitted to chassis 2 EX, and the other was handed to EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} for trial on his test cars. These are both at the present moment still running on the road with, we believe, reasonable satisfaction (we are awaiting EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}'s report). The six recently received are, as stated, of the original quality and finish, but Messrs. Bleriot as a result of endeavouring to adjust these to within the limits of our specification have sent them to us in a condition in which they vibrate in most cases at cutting in point. Our own investigations of the cutout appear to show that it may be made to meet the specification by Contd.
