c. Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} Hdy.{William Hardy} JPB. File No. 2600.S. Secret. Hdy{William Hardy}/CHK.2/MBL. 27th January 1956. Messrs. Hooper & Co., Ltd., Western Ave., Acton, London W.3. For the attention of Mr. Rivers. Dear Sirs, Thank you for your letter dated 20th January and also that from your Mr. Jacobe dated 25th January. Dealing with the points raised in your letter first we are glad to say that your assumption in the second paragraph is correct, we shall supply the bonnet hinge and fastener assemblies but we shall expect you to produce the panels. Regarding the bonnet moulding, referred to in your third paragraph, you are again correct. It is a 'plant-on' moulding and we enclose prints to illustrate the section we propose to use. Mr. Jacob's letter asks for information regarding the type and position of the bumpers we intend to use on this chassis. These will be very similar to those we use on our 'S' Series Bentley and Silver Cloud. In fact, the section of the bars, and the overriders are exactly the same but the lengths of the bars are increased to suit the wider body. Particulars of the front bar are given on RBS 1806 of which you have a copy but a new drawing RBS 1843 has recently been made for the rear and a print of same is enclosed. This supersedes RBS 1806 in respect to the rear end. It is drawn for the 133" wheelbase Park Ward Touring limousine and so for the body you are designing it will be necessary to position it 12" further rearward to suit the 145" wheelbase. Yours faithfully, for and on behalf of ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. G.H. KING Design Department. Encl. | ||
