C O P Y. S/W - Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} from C. C17/C.16.5.34. One of the most aggravating complaints at the present time is the sticky air valve, because it actually causes the car to stop. We have just had a man whose car stopped three times in traffic. DUring the September quarter we had 24 cases, " " " December " " 36 " "--- "-M and last March................... 31 " This matter was discussed last September when H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} and Br.{T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager} visited Derby and it was understood that the Works would treat it as one of the few "Worst FEatures" requiring the most prompt attention. We believe it was proposed to give more clearance of the valve and that there would be no difficulty about this. There is also the new design whch is at present fitted to 20-G.4, which I understand was designed to do away with the sticking and also, to a great extent to cure the popping in the exhaust. This trouble is really quite a nasty one and I should be glad if you would please look into it and let me know if you are likely to have a cure in the near future - a retrospective one if possible.
