[Handwritten top]: Bing Hf{H. W. Frost - Coachwork Inspector} C W Conlon Derby To BJ. - from Hr. Strengthened Rocker Arm in Steering Box. BJ14/H1.3.22. ======================== The present position with regard to the above is that it has been standardised, but has not been used up to the present. Mr. Bailey informs me that if we were to go on at our present rate of production it would take about two years to use up the old type of Rocker Arm. The Works are of the opinion that it is unnecessary to change the present type of Rocker Arm for the strengthened type of Rocker Arm, which would cause scrap up to the value of £873. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} and BY all state that they do not consider the old type Rocker Arm a risk to life. With regard to the second paragraph of the above memo, Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} has never written to R.{Sir Henry Royce} on this subject. I have seen Mr. Elliott on this subject; his own personal opinion is that we should use up the manufactured parts which we have got, but he says his opinion is worth nothing as far as Mr. Royce is concerned. He thinks the best way would be for Mr. Hives, when he goes down to the South of France next week, to bring the question before R.{Sir Henry Royce} and get R.{Sir Henry Royce} to give a decision.
