CLUTCH

The clutch plate has been removed. The inner half of the rear fabric is a uniform chestnut colour all round. This is due to excess bijur oil from the clutch withdrawal shaft and from brake equalised shaft finding its way into the clutch.

The outer half of the rear fabric and the front fabric are in good condition, and we attribute the slip on take-up to the springs being too weak, as the amount of oil that has entered the clutch is very small.

The pedal travel had increased 3/16" in the last 5,250 miles running. This is due to wear in the fingers and withdrawal mechanism.

The new plate with N° 6 Ferodo has been fitted and the stronger clutch springs. There have been no transmission rattles during the first 200 miles running.
