Copy to - SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ORIGINAL x5380 BODY SUBFRAME - 20/25HP. LONG CHASSIS. We send herewith N. schemes 2982/86., shewing the arrangement of the rear floor and heelboard for the 20/25HP. subframe. It will be noticed that we have fixed the position of the subframe cross member. We wish to retain the 4 1/4" bump from full load to maximum rubber bump, as set out on your F.56803., but we wish to remove the packing under the rubber buffer, and to increase the negative camber of the spring under full load by the thickness of that packing, thereby lowering the rear of the car by that amount. This entails a modified battery box on the lines of Phantom ll., the battery plates being unaltered. The rear support of the battery will be on a cantilever tube springing from the offside side member. The sheet metal heelboard, with aluminium casting, are of course to be supplied with the subframe. We have removed the Enots lubricator from the rear universal joint and replaced it by a hexagon plug. This we have done to reduce the size of the pot in the floor, and we suggest that we try filling the joint by means of a syringe. We also enclose N. sch. 2969. shewing the small scale drawing of the enclosed drive Pullman Limousine which we are building for the Exp. Dept. on a body subframe, by Park Ward, of Willesden.
