With reference to your Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}3/R.25.7.34, we understand the position really now is that the only point that has not been corrected in connection with the 20/25 clutches is the question of oil fumes getting on to the clutch fabric. This trouble we have been dealing with recently by roughly treating the clutch and thus burning off the vapour deposit. Do we understand that this seal you now refer to is something which prevents the vapour getting on to the clutch fabric? If this is the case, then we are very pleased to note that you have found this cure. We do not think, however, it would be wise to put the scheme on to a customer's car for test purposes. For one thing, we cannot think of one at the moment, but any customer who has been annoyed repeatedly with clutch slipping we would rather leave alone than ask him to spare his car again. We could, however, have it fitted on to any of the demonstration or inspectors' cars at any time to suit your convenience, and of course you would then be able to examine the effect from time to time. Please let me know if you would like to arrange this. C. | ||
